Case Studies Q&A

What is the background story to how AESSEAL was awarded the contracts?

Nestlé Purina had some serious problems with mechanical seals and packings. When AESSEAL helped to solve these issues, the award of the contract was practically assured.

Did Nestlé Purina know much about AESSEAL and its products?

No. The story started in 2015, when Nestlé Purina set up its plant in Poland. Until then, the company knew nothing about AESSEAL.

Was it difficult to persuade them to accept AESSEAL’s recommendations?

No so difficult because my first contact in Nestlé Purina Poland was a reliability engineer who had transferred from Cargill Poland.  We had worked together for many years, and had already co-operated on several important projects at the Cargill plant.

What finally convinced them to install the AESSEAL products?

The crucial factor was the long life of AESSEAL products. The first 85mm DMSC mechanical seal installed on the Siefer Trigonal Mixer in 2015 was tested for more than a year before being adopted as standard in the rest of Nestlé Purina plants.

Do you continue to have regular contact with the company? If so, how frequently?

I have regular contact with Nestlé Purina Poland. I visit the plant at least once every two weeks.

Have you been able to win further business with Nestlé Purina?

Yes. AESSEAL now has the status of “Strategic Mechanical Seal Supplier” for the entire Nestlé Purina group. Any new equipment supplied to Nestlé Purina should have an AESSEAL mechanical seal or bearing protection installed.

Has the contract with Nestlé Purina helped to win business elsewhere?

Yes. The contract with Nestlé Purina has opened a gateway for AESSEAL to other plants located in Europe, Australia, North and South America, and Asia.

What do you think is AESSEAL’s biggest advantage over its competitors?

AESSEAL’s biggest advantage is our very close contact with customers. Our very short delivery time and quick response time to customer needs are also important.

Is there anything AESSEAL could do to help you win more business?

The most important things are to maintain short delivery times and the high quality of the products.

What do you think is most important when dealing with companies like Nestlé Purina?

From my point of view, the most important things are frequent contact with customers (focusing on their important sealing problems), hard work, and self-confidence.
